In May 2012, the National Park System Advisory Board favorably acted on the Denver Civic Center and Colorado River Relocation Center (Poston) NHL nominations. The nominations now await final action from Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar. If approved, the 33-acre City Beautiful-era Denver Civic Center will become the City and County of Denver's first National Historic Landmark.

In May 2012, Front Range staff presented the Denver Civic Center NHL nomination to the Landmarks Committee of the National Park System Advisory Board in Washington. Mayor Michael B. Hancock appeared before the committee and urged approval of the nomination. The Landmarks Committee unanimously recommended that the nomination be forwarded to the Advisory Board. A week later, the Advisory Board favorably acted on the nomination. The nomination now awaits action from Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar. |
